how weird—if i’m not mistaken, some internet dbag stole @heyitsphil’s profile picture!
so my phone died, last tuesday or wednesday maybe. i can’t remember exactly. i was at work, checking twitter on the Q while i waited for an annoyingly slow system to refresh on my computer, and while loading a picture from @amandapalmer the browser just froze, and i had to remove the battery in order to turn it off. it never turned on properly again. so!
though it was a smartphone/pda/windows piece of crap and could easily have been backed up to my laptop or one of the 2 external hard drives i use for backing things up, i never ever ever backed it up and now all is lost. pictures of friends, babies and cats, uproariously funny text messages i swore i’d keep forever, phone numbers of friends, enemies and ex-boyfriends, all gone. (please email me your phone number, please, if you ever want me to be able to contact you again. lilinoe at the gmail.)
it’s been strange, being phoneless. i only miss it at inappropriate times, like when i’m driving (dangerous!) or working (procrastinatey!) or in bed (alarming!) but luckily i still have an ipod touch to keep my hands busy as needed, and i’ve only wanted to call people about a dozen times and it was just funny, not irritating, when i couldn’t.
anyway, i tried to get it fixed and it took forever but it seems it’s unfixable, and so a spiffy new orange blackberry is winging its way to me and it’ll only be another day or two before i rejoin the cellular world (my number is staying the same, btdubs). and seriously, email/fb/tweet/stop by the gingerbread house with your contact info if you want to stay in touch. this time, i promise i’ll back it up.
